Hiking in Pennsylvania

Picture
Pennsylvania has some really great hiking trails, many of which have been designed in loop fashion.  This allows solo hikers to explore many miles of trails without having to backtrack.  Most trails in PA are remote, primitive, and filled with wildlife.  These looped backpacking trails range in lengths from 20 miles to over 80 miles, which works out great for seemingly endless year-round backpacking.  I prefer to use these trails in the winter and spring season in order to get into hiking shape and the perform gear 'shake down' hikes before embarking on longer trips.
